Call for Participation: Developing Visual Literacy Skills in Students

Both undergraduate and graduate students are very comfortable with visual imagery but often do not have the vocabulary or tools to analyze images.   In order for faculty to effectively integrate images in the teaching and learning process, students need to be able to apply critical thinking to images in the same way they apply critical thinking to text. Often faculty do not have time within their curriculum to help their students develop these skills.   Would you like to get involved in a project to address this issue?

I am interested in assessing the effectiveness of the use images in the teaching and learning process.

I am interested in assessing the effectiveness of the modules (or tools) developed through this project.

I am currently using images in my teaching, and I would be interested in using the modules with my students.

Currently, I am not using images in my teaching. I would like to if I could get help digitizing materials.

I would be interested in talking more with students about their experiences.
